After a 2024 Southern Conference championship and second consecutive appearance in the FCS playoffs, Mercer football fans once again can turn to the Mercer Sports Network to hear all of the play-by-play action in 2025.

The Mercer Sports Network consists of 100.9 The Creek FM radio station and SportsMic, the free downloadable app for smart phones and tablets that allows access to games from any location. The audio link for each football radio broadcast is bit.ly/MUBears.

The Mercer Sports Network is fronted by Rick Cameron, the “Voice of the Bears,” who is in his 21st year of calling radio play-by-play for Mercer. Cameron was inducted into the Mercer Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019 and called his 1,000th game on Jan. 25, 2025. In 2024, Cameron was one of five finalists for the Bill Schwanke Award, which goes to the top play-by-play broadcaster in the nation for FCS football.

Cameron is joined by Billy Andrews as color analyst and Bill Connelly, in his first season as sideline reporter.

Andrews is entering his third year of broadcasting for Mercer football. A native of Augusta, Ga., and a graduate of the iconic Permian High School in Odessa, Texas—home of Friday Night Lights. Andrews has spent over a decade behind the mic as a football, basketball, and baseball broadcaster for multiple high schools across Middle Georgia. He also co-hosted the Mercer Tailgate Show for five years.

Connelly is a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel with 31 years of service flying several platforms accumulating more than 1,800 combat flying hours and 225 combat missions. He has been with Mercer since March 2020 where he has broadcast or announced more than 150 games for eight Mercer sports. He has been the in-game host for Mercer football, men’s and women’s basketball games for the past two seasons. He has also been the announcer the last two seasons for the Macon Mayhem professional hockey team. Connelly has been broadcasting with SportsMic for the past 10 years bringing football, basketball, baseball and softball to the Houston County area as the Voice of the Veteran Warhawks for more than 300 games.

Each Mercer football broadcast includes a one-hour pregame show featuring interviews with head coach Mike Jacobs and select Mercer players.

For each Mercer home game, SportsMic airs a one-hour Tailgate Show from Black Field on the Mercer Campus.
